Detailed Description
If you need to go hands free on a belay device you can tie it off with a mule knot in front (separate skill on skilltaco.com) or on the carabiner spine. That mule knot should then be backed up.
Many people back of the mule knot with a hitch knot, but the AMGA prefers to tie a full overhand knot around what the mule it tied to instead of a hitch.
