Detailed Description
A traditional headstand puts a lot of pressure on your head. It also is not stable for somebody that isn't used to the position. To get around this people have invented special benches/chairs that you can use to do a headstand on your shoulders, with special grips for your hands to hold.

These benches make going upside down much easier and allow people to practice the lower body control. It is also great for people looking to do press handstands or other movements while inverted as they can practice those movements while inverted with a much more stable base.
