Tie A Slip Hitch
Howdy Stranger
Detailed Description
The slip hitch is often used to tie off on a spike or knob of rock. It self-tightens, but if it pops off the end it does untie itself.

Commonly this is used with pre-sewn slings on knobs where there is a constriction.  The self-tightening makes it less likely to walk its way off of the constriction.

Commonly this is caused a slip knot, knots stay tied self contained, this requires the thing it is hitched around to stay in shape.
