Detailed Description
The pistol squat is a squat with 1 leg where at the bottom the leg supporting you is fully bent and the other leg is straight out parallel to the ground.

This exercise is difficult for many people for several reasons. One reason is flexiblity. The knee goes through its full range of motion, the ankle dorsiflexes forward much farther than typical activity like walking, and the hip flexes quite a bit too.

Beyond the flexibility requirements this exercise requires a lot of strength and balance.
